Hi, I’m Stephen Schultz & you’re watching Ask Schultz & Myers Personal Injury Lawyers.
Today I’m going to answer the question, “What happens if I’m involved in a truck accident with a jackknife tractor trailer?”
Trucks coming on a situation will occasionally lock up the brakes and jackknife. This means that the tractor and the trailer will go in different directions essentially.
That can cause a lot of different types of accidents and issues on the road. You know, the truck can run into other vehicles, and it also can just block lanes of travel and cause other cars to go out of control as well. Essentially, the root issue is that the tractor and the trailer go in different directions, causing the truck driver to lose control.
So in that situation, what you’ll want to do is contact an attorney right away who can go to the scene and request that certain evidence be preserved. That can include the ECM of the tractor trailer, or the black box. And other information such as truck driver logbooks, and other data that will be important when it comes time to proving liability in the case.
