Five people across the St. Louis-area were killed in separate crashes late Tuesday night and into early Wednesday morning.
Wellston Pedestrian Accident
Accident reconstruction was called to Wellston, Missouri after a car swerved off of the roadway, striking two pedestrians. The driver of the car, a 19-year-old female said she was travelling southbound on Kienlen Avenue when she swerved to avoid a northbound vehicle. Her car swerved across the northbound lanes, leaving the roadway, and continuing onto the sidewalk.
Two pedestrians were pronounced dead at the accident scene. Their names have not yet been released.
Tractor-Trailer Accident on McKinley Bridge
Another serious crash near St. Louis occurred last night after a vehicle driving on the Illinois side of McKinley bridge crossed into the westbound lanes, hitting a tractor trailer.
The driver of the car was transported by helicopter to a local hospital.
Tractor-Trailer accident on I-44
A car going eastbound on I-44 near Cass Avenue rolled over just after 2:00a.m. on Wednesday. The vehicle caught fire, killing two. Their names have not yet been released.
South St. Louis County Tractor-Trailer Rear-End Accident
A 32-year-old woman was killed on Tuesday night after the rear tires of her car blew out, causing an accident in South St. Louis County. The driver, Erin Nabe-Jenkins, of Imperial, Missouri, was killed after her car became wedged under a tractor-trailer while she was trying to move off the roadway at interstate 55. Erin Nabe-Jenkins was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
