North County Crash Considered Hit-and-Run
A fatal hit-and-run crash on Interstate 270 Monday afternoon has left authorities searching for a tractor-trailer involved in the crash.
The accident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on I-270 near the Lewis and Clark exit. Police say the crash happened after an eastbound tractor-trailer attempted to change lanes into a lane occupied by a Chevy Cobalt. The Cobalt changed lanes to avoid the collision and struck a third car, a Chevy Aveo driven by Chad Moore, 29, of St. Louis.
Both cars hit the median before Moore’s car flipped over.
According to KMOV, the tractor trailer fled the scene.
Both Chad Moore and the driver of the Chevy Cobalt, 55-year-old Rodney Knackstedt of Bethlato were taken to the hospital. Twenty-nine-year-old Moore died shortly after reaching the hospital.
Chad Moore leaves behind a fiancée and a 3-month-old daughter.
Interstate 270 was closed for three hours as the authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
