Prior to joining Schultz & Myers, Garrett gained extensive experience handling complex personal injury and toxic tort matters nationwide. He traveled throughout the country to interview witnesses, meet with clients, and prepare individuals for critical deposition testimony, including those suffering from terminal illnesses. He has conducted high-stakes depositions and participated in detailed investigations involving occupational and environmental exposure claims. Through this work, Garrett developed substantial experience in complex product liability and toxic tort litigation, including cases involving asbestos and talcum powder exposure.
Before dedicating his practice to representing injured plaintiffs, Garrett worked as a civil defense attorney. That experience provides valuable insight into how corporations, insurance companies, and defense counsel evaluate and defend claims. Today, he uses that knowledge to anticipate challenges, strengthen his clients’ cases, and advocate more effectively on their behalf.
Garrett’s legal foundation was shaped through distinguished academic and professional experiences. He served as a judicial extern for a federal judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, where he researched complex legal issues and assisted in drafting opinions involving both civil and criminal matters. During law school, he also worked as a law clerk for a respected personal injury litigation firm. Garrett graduated near the top of his class and developed an early passion for helping individuals navigate complex legal challenges.
