ATTORNEY AT LAW
Louis grew up in Champaign, Illinois, where his mother, Linda, attended the University of Illinois’ Law School. Growing up, with a lawyer in the family, Louis has always thought that he may have a future in law. Louis went to undergrad at Illinois State University, in Normal Illinois, and attended Law School at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Louis excelled at SIU, receiving a full tuition scholarship from SIU Carbondale and retained the required GPA to keep the scholarship all three years while in school. Louis made the deans list while at SIU. Louis also received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award for receiving the highest grade in his Torts class. Louis was a part of the Journal of Legal Medicine at SIU during his time there as well.
After law school, Louis’ primary focus during his career has been on litigation. Initially, Louis worked as an Illinois Assistant Attorney General, in Springfield Illinois, representing state agencies in Federal Court, State Court, and the Court of Claims, throughout the lower half of the State. While living in Springfield, Louis met and married his wife Emily during her time in Medical School there, and they moved to the St. Louis area due to her starting her medical residency at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. She is currently acting as a chief resident for their program. Since moving to the area three years ago, Louis, through his practice, has engaged in litigation in the St. Louis area on behalf of individuals, municipalities, and businesses. Louis is a member of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys. Louis has licenses to practice in both Illinois and Missouri state courts, the Western and Eastern Districts of Missouri Federal Courts, and the Illinois Southern District Federal Court.
Outside of the Courtroom:
Louis strives to fight for his clients in the courtroom, no matter how long that may take, but also finds time for life outside of his legal practice. Louis resides in St. Louis city with his wife and their three cats Albus, Severus, and Jake. They enjoy the city life, whether it be walking in tower grove park, eating great Italian food on the hill, or grabbing some Cardinals home game tickets and attending a game. They have many friends living in the area and have begun putting down roots to stay here long term.
Louis enjoys playing chess, ping pong, and board games. Louis goes almost daily to the YMCA near their house, and when he is not exercising in the gym, he is signing up for and running a local 5k and raising money for local small businesses and charities through those events.
“I believe that the legal system is meant to be fair and just to all, not just those with ample funds” Says Louis. “I believe that as income stays the same and costs skyrocket, those with more money and power, especially large companies, will increase their attempts to step on the rights of those less fortunate. It is our responsibility as attorneys, as officers of the Court of Law, to make sure that justice is available, not just for the rich, but for everyone in society.” Louis is dedicated to fighting for any who’s rights may be trodden upon, and especially those who are vulnerable.
