Bio

Tom Wilmowski has garnered a reputation as one of Missouri and Southern Illinois’s top injury lawyers.  Like all Schultz & Myers Personal Injury Lawyers attorneys, Tom gives all of his clients his personal cell phone number to keep up attorney-client communication.

Before joining Schultz Myers, Tom spent many years defending trucking companies and automobile insurance carriers. He brings a unique perspective to the Firm in that he knows, first hand, how these cases are defended.

“I spent far too many years trying to minimize the compensation that innocent victims are entitled to, says Tom. For me, I knew I had to make a change and get on the right side of these cases. Insurance companies will do anything to low-ball injury victims. Time for me to balance the scales for the good guys.”

Now in his 14th year of practice, Tom prides himself on using his inside knowledge of the insurance industry to obtain maximum value — and often more — for his clients. Prior to joining Schultz & Myers, Tom spent nearly a decade representing insurance carriers and some of the nation’s largest trucking companies. He obtained his Class A Commercial Driver’s License in 2010 and utilizes that hands-on knowledge to benefit his clients. Tom considers November 28, 2016 — the date on which he joined Schultz & Myers and began representing those who have been catastrophically injured by the negligence of others — as the seminal moment of his professional life. Since that time, Tom has obtained for his clients:

  • 5 settlements/jury verdicts of $1 million or more;
  • 97 settlements/jury verdicts of $100,000 or more;
  • 178 policy limits settlements (meaning the insurance company voluntarily agreed to pay the full limits of its insurance policy); and
  • 5 settlements/jury verdicts in excess of the insurance policy limits (meaning the insurance company voluntarily agreed to pay more than the full limits of its insurance policy).

Tom’s major victories include:

  • $1,377,000 for a 52-year-old man rear-ended by a box truck in a chain reaction crash in St. Clair County, Illinois where the insurance company initially denied responsibility;
  • $1,055,000 for a 41-year-old woman injured in a rollover crash in southern Missouri;
  • $1,041,403 for a 28-year-old woman catastrophically injured and burned by a truck with defective brakes in St. Louis County;
  • $1,030,000 for three elderly individuals injured in a crash in St. Louis County;
  • $1,000,000 for an elderly woman sideswiped by a tractor-trailer on I-270 in St. Louis County;
  • $895,851.44 for the family of a 47-year-old man killed in a crash in the City of St. Louis;
  • $800,000 for a woman rear-ended by a young driver in the City of St. Louis with minimal insurance coverage;
  • $750,000 for a mother of two young children rear-ended in Fenton, Missouri; and
  • $729,000.00 from the State of Missouri for the families of a young woman and two children killed in a tragic cross-over crash in St. Charles County.

Tom is a firm believer that every injury claim is different and there is no “one-size-fits-all” solution. He draws upon his extensive experience, including his insurance background and Class A CDL, to formulate a personalized, detailed, and analytical approval to every claim. Tom is particularly proud of the five occasions on which the insurance company has voluntarily agreed to pay more than its full insurance policy limits due to his calculated approach to prosecuting his client’s claim. He strongly believes that convincing a large insurance carrier to voluntarily pay more than its policy limits is one of the most difficult things an injury lawyer can do.
